The Hammar H20 is a hydrostatic release unit designed to be safe and reliable in the extreme conditions that you and your vessel might meet on the oceans. Should the vessel sink, the Hammar H20, which is activated by increasing water pressure, will automatically release your liferaft allowing it to float to the surface. Approved for use on both commercial and recreational vessels. Expires two years after installation.

The H20 is the best-selling hydrostatic release unit in the world and it has been saving lives on the oceans for more than 25 years. Its safe, reliable and simple design, has earned it more worldwide approvals than any other unit.

The Hammar H20 is designed to fit liferafts of all shapes and sizes. It is made of glass fiber reinforced nylon, which prevents it from corroding. The Hammar H20 needs no annual service, maintenance or spare parts. You simply install a new one every two years and dispose of the old one. With the environment in mind, the old unit is 97% recyclable.

The white strong rope of Hammar H20 is secured to the deck or liferaft cradle and attached to the liferaft lashing with a slip hook. If the ship sinks the water pressure will, within 4 metres, activate the sharp knife, which cuts the rope and the life raft will float free. As the ship sinks, the liferaft painter line will be stretched and the liferaft starts to inflate. The Red Weak Link™ breaks and survivors can board the floating liferaft.

The Hammar H20 release unit consists of a double looped white rope line, a release mechanism and a Red Weak Link™ (breaking strength 2,2 ± 0,4kN).

We're real people!  Our team is made up of real outdoor-loving people, just like you, and we want to share our knowledge.  We don't just sell these products, we use them ourselves or have close friends and family that do.  We do this every day, and we love answering questions.  Contact us here.

More than a .com:  We're more than just an online store. We started our business the old-fashioned way and we've got the physical locations and warehouse to prove it.  Check out our locations here.

We service what we sell: We operate two USCG approved liferaft servicing facilities, and we're manufacturer certified for more than 10 liferaft brands, EPIRBs and PLBs, immersion suits, life jackets and more.  So, when you have a question or want the inside scoop about what's what, you'll know that you're talking to someone that's actually seen the raft, worn the PFD, or tested the EPIRB themselves.  Check out our service department here.

We take it personally: We truly do take it personally if you're not 100% satisfied with your experience.  We want to earn your business, not just for today, but for many years to come.  We understand the power of good relationships and the trust that can only be created from following through on the big and little things alike.  We're still human and we make mistakes, but it's how we handle them that makes us different.
